YVC is Unique
Studies have found that youth who volunteer can develop negative attitudes about service if they don’t feel that their efforts are making a difference. YVC is the only large-scale youth service organization in the U.S. and Canada that creates and supports quality, team-based youth service opportunities that youth find rewarding, engaging, and challenging.
Since 1987, YVC has witnessed countless youth whose lives have been transformed by service. The program fosters an atmosphere that promotes learning, connection, and a sense of belonging. Every YVC project incorporates service-learning to help youth understand the impact of their volunteering as well as team-building games to help youth feel comfortable and get them working together. While all projects are supervised by trained adults who know how to motivate and inspire youth ages 11-18, YVC youth are involved in the planning process to help create a service experience that speaks to their interests.
YVC’s Four Fundamental Goals:
YVC Over the Years
In 1987, YVC began as a summer volunteer program in Kansas City, and has since expanded its reach with YVC Affiliates offering year-round service opportunities in communities across the U.S. and Canada. YVC of Springfield is generously hosted by Youth Volunteer Corps Headquarters.
